But while Silsdenbury Fest organisers said it was hugely successful, fears have arisen about its future funding amid poor donations received.

Main organiser Andrew Conway, who lives in Silsden, estimated as many as 3,000 people attended the two-day event on Saturday and Sunday.

“It was absolutely fantastic – no problems at all,” he said. “We did get a drop of rain at about 10pm on the Friday before, which was a worry, but in the end it dried up and the ground was fine.

“We had loads of people watching the bands, either inside the marquee or outside on a 12-square-metre screen.”

The bands playing at the festival included The Assembly, Emmott and the Folkestra, The Big Bang, AKA Scarface and Born Thieves. A mix of local acts performed on the Sunday, and there was also a funfair and stalls.

The event was staged following the success of last summer’s Diamond Do, which was the town’s first music festival.

As with the Diamond Do, people were able to attend Silsdenbury Fest for free, but Mr Conway said this meant funding the occasion was a major challenge.

“Doing the actual organising is fine with the team I have, but it’s a bittersweet pill because donations have been sparse this year,” he added.

“People enjoy the event so much they’d like it to be an annual thing, but they’re not so willing to put their hand in their pocket. The festival cost us about £16,000 to stage, and if we can’t get the funding, we can’t hold the event.”
