Hi,

I am contacting you today to invite you to a workshop event focusing on the Tour de France / Yorkshire! Everyone across the region is really excited both about the event and the opportunities it will bring. We feel that its important that all those with an enthusiasm to get involved also gain the opportunity to share ideas and network with others from across the district. This event will be an opportunity to do just that in a friendly and informal setting.

The workshop will be held on the evening of Monday 12th August from 5:30 till 8 pm in the Gumption Centre, Bradford. Gumption offers the perfect informal setting to share ideas over a cuppa in the neutral setting of Bradford! This is a one off event/opportunity so don’t let the fact it is off the route put you off!

Directions to Gumption.
The Gumption Centre is in Glyde House, Bradford on Little Horton Lane.

The event will hosted by the Bradford District cycle forum ‘B-Spoke’ and the basic format will be as follows:

1.Three short talks to introduce…

    • Welcome (Malcolm Hoddy, Chair of B-Spoke)
    • The regional perspective (speaker TBC)
    • A local perspective (Bryan Websdale from Ilkley)

2 – Then onto the workshops. They will be based on your giving information on

    1. what you intend to do in your local area and
    2. what you would like to see happen in relation to three themes. The three themes are:

a – Build up to the tour (cultural festival activities)
b – During the tour (understanding that there are limitations with road closures etc)
c – Legacy (what we want to see as the future of cycling locally)

Each workshop area will be facilitated by someone who has experience in that respect.

3 – You will then get some time to meet and mingle as well as have a look at the ideas that others have put forward for what they wish to do.

After the event we will then produce a report based on your thoughts and aspirations.

Please do let me know if you want to attend and if we haven’t met, what part of the district & organisation you represent.

Finally, I am conscious that I may have missed people out or simply just don’t know them yet and I would appreciate your help in seeking them out. In particular my contacts with a specific Tour interest are few or none in Addingham, Silsden, Steeton, Keighley, Haworth, Stanbury and Oxenhope. If you could spread the word and give me some names and contacts that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Tom Jones
