SUMMARY: All respondends said a bridge across the A629 trunk road would encourage them to walk/cycle to/from the station and a cycle path would also help. The main reason for NOT walking was the danger of crossing the A629 Trunk Road.

Q4.	I only use the station occasionally because:
1.	I use the station if im going to leeds city center if im going for a few drinks in bradford/leeds etc or if not taking the car to work
2.	Because when I do I have my two children with me and I'm not prepared to risk their lives crossing the dual carriageway. It is a disgrace that a bridge was not a mandatory condition of building the road in the first place.
3.	Use station to make train connections in Leeds
4.	I use the stataion about once a month to get into leeds for connecting London Trains. I would like to see a bridge or tunnel to help with the crossing of the Aire Valley Trunk road. I would walk to the station if it was safe to get there. Especially in winter with dark mornings.
5.	The zone system operated on the metro works out more costly per week because i cant buy one just to go inside two zones; thus i am having to pay more than required and even then it is only beneficial if you use it for more than 5 days a week. There is no proper choice on the zoned metro system or cost that is reasonable. It is really dissapointing as i would like to use the rail system more regularly. Further to this the road can be difficult to cross to the station at the dual carriageway; you certainly have to be quick on your feet and is likely not to be particularly good for those who arent. DThe danger should be eliminated by providing a more sensible way of crossing the road. I can see why using the rail system might put many people off.
6.	I only use the train if I were to go shopping or out for an evening in Leeds, I have tried getting the train to work (in Leeds) but it is unreliable i.e. often late.
7.	I only use the train for occasional shopping trips.I would use it more often if the road was easier to cross and / or there was a better bus service that complemented the train times.
8.	use it to go to leeds for work meetings.definately needs to be made safer to cross the trunk road.
9.	Used to use it twice daily when working in Leeds. now use it 1or 2 times a month
10.	It's dangerous. Planning folly by whoever did it!
11.	I have only used the train on the odd occasions I go to Leeds (because I dislike the drive there and back, and hate finding somewhere to park).
12.	take my teenager to and from train station she would prefer to walk but i feel that crossing the byepass on foot is not safe
13.	Business trips to Leeds about 2 a year

15.	it's easier and safer to take the bus to Ilkley, and catch the train to Leeds from there.

Q9.	What changes would you like to see to improve station access and use?
1.	i only use the car for the station if im collecting someone if im using the train myself i walk a bridge would be a very good idea as the current crossing system is dangerous and laughable the new section in bingley has 2 foot bridges close to each other 1 near the old treacle cock alley (near the grave yard/parish church) isnt used nearly as much as the the silsden steeton crossing

3.	Airedale Trunk Road crossing is essential. Sensible Rial Bus Interchange - with buses wating for train arrivals 'Drop Off' pull ins on Steeton Road to stop illegal stopping on doulbe yellows Bigger car park on Leeds/Bradford side Bigger waiting room - see Guisley & Shipley
4.	More secure bike lockers
5.	I use my car as it is a rather long walk to the bus stop from where I live. A better bus route would help as the parking is always full with people parking in silly places making it hard to get in/out of the car park. I would consider buying a bicyle but where would we leave them during the day - there are not enough cycle holders on the train to take them all in to work!
6.	Better fares for zone users just travelling two zones and not all of them to gain the benefit of the weekly pass.
7.	i would like to see a larger shelter at the station on the leeds/bradford side. the number of users are increasing all the time and there is not enough space in the current shelter not only to have a seat but also to save us from the british summer (and winter) rain.
8.	Just a bridge as I may use the station more or even walk over to Steeton more if there was abridge as I feel unsafe gambling with the traffic flow on the trunk road
9.	footbridge over trunk road, not a tunnel for safety reasons ie: muggings etc. Better facilities on the platform heated waiting room, shop or drinks machines etc
10.	I would like to see a waiting room with toilet. I would be willing to pay extra to use these.
11.	The safe crossing would do magnificently.
12.	1.more parking at station for rail users only 2.better rail/bus links, the evening buses are geared to Leeds trains, not Bradford trains 3.cycle storage facilities improved at station
13.	I would like to see a pedestrian bridge over the trunk road.
14.	A reliable integrated bus service A large no smoking sign in the shelters
15.	Better access/ drop off for Leeds/Bradford platform. More shelter for passengers when waiting for trains.
16.	More waiting facilities. A real schuttle bus service between Cringles and Airdale, which at peak times does not go all around the houses of Silsden and is frequent enough (during commuting times) so passengers are not waiting at the station for more than 10 minuits. A drop off point at the station for cars delivering passengers.
17.	Very much agree with improving the conditions for pedestrians & cyclists from Silsden. One option would be to have cycle lane markings on the road from the new pedestrian refuge to the roundabout. This would move traffic away from the kerb making the narrow pavement less intimidating for pedestrians.
18.	A bridge over the trunk road is the first thing, then better waiting rooms, although if they were too cumfortable they would need to have CCTV to keep out the undesirable's, a bus which connected with the trains would help, but there isn't much chance of that! they don't even connect with other buses.
19.	More bike storage at the station.
