Canal Towpath Opening Community Celebration Ė Silsden


Saturday 18 August between 11am and 2pm

All welcome


On the land adjacent to the canal - access through the archway, near the canal bridge


Ribbon cutting at 11.30am

From 11am there will be a band playing, refreshments available, a City Connect information stand and a Leeds and Liverpool Canal Society stand.

Also, Dr Bike services will be there from 11am Ė so why not bring your bike for a free check over?

A led bike ride, using the towpath, is timed to arrive in Silsden for 11am.

If you want to join the led bike ride then you need to pre book (see below for how to book) and the specific timings are:

08:45 Meet at The Capital of Cycling in Bradford city centre.
09:00 Depart.
09:15 Bradford end of Shipley Greenway.
09:35 Roberts Park Saltaire.
09.55 Bingley Five Rise.
11:00 Silsden.

All very well and good doing the towpath up to how it should have been in the first place...but i dont honestly think that the re-opening of a very small section, which is only half of the towpath in Silsden warrants such an event.
When the towpath gets done fully between Silsden and Skipton..i think only then, there might be a good cause for celebration.

CorkyYorky stop being negative, any community event is worthwhile, gets people together, that sounds good to me. Is there anything you are happy with in Silsden? Most of your posts are against things going on.. be happy, get the kettle on...'happy :)');

NO Dexter you are wrong..I simply just donít see any cause for celebration here..its a small section of towpath thats just been levelled not a new bypass, that most folk want!

For goodness sake donít make a big thing about it or the History Society will have another good reason to put up a pointless blue plaque!
