From the T & A

quote
The new festival was billed as having three arenas for 2,500 people and more than 20 DJs.

But Bingley Town Council heard at its latest meeting that the festival was judged unsafe by Bradford Council’s Public Safety Liaison Group (PSLG), after the organisers failed to provide all of the necessary documentation and reassurances.

Bradford Council officers told the town council initial permission had been granted for the Riverside Festival in May.

But organisers have now announced on social media that the festival will be held on Saturday, September 30, at Riverside Field, Silsden, following concerns over it taking place at Myrtle Park less than a month before Bingley Music Live.

Ros Dawson, Bingley Town Council chairman, said: “This has been dubbed by some as a stealth festival. There has been no consultation and no advertising about this event around Bingley.

A Bradford Council spokesman said: “No documentation has been submitted to the PSLG regarding any other alternative venue or date.”
It would appear the organisers do not have permission yet.

If It is not safe to hold it in Bingley, Why is it safe to hold it here?
The last music event held on this field had many cars parked illegally on Keighley Rd, I didn't see any of them being removed.

The last music event had its own parking, the football club were also holding a weekend tournament with no parking facilities, guess who's cars were blocking the road victor !!

This proposed event has no connection to northern lights and its organisers.

charlie
It doesn't matter who is running what event, they should not allow cars to park illegally!
They create an unnecessary hazard.

Charlie, your information is not quite correct regarding the football clubs 6 a side weekend event parking.

They had the whole of the adjacent mill site as a car park, holding some 150 cars and was never full + the roadside mill site parking for 40 cars of which only 5 needed to park on it.

On top of that they had more than enough parking attendants for both days from 7.30 to just before lunch.

The cars which were parked there on Saturday night were nothing to do with the football.

Well said Listener, Silsden AFC is a credit to the town, we have a grandson in one of the teams, and he loves it. Sorry Peter, back to the subject: if they get go ahead, let them have their fun, won't affect most people in town.
