Staying at the Shippon, a cottage attached to Black Pots,
you look out over the dark and wild gritstone scenery of
Bronte Country to the south and stretching away behind you
is the vast landscape of the Yorkshire Dales National Park
with its limestone scenery and historic monuments. Ideally
placed for walking and cycling holidays. For over 400 years Black Pots has seen many incarnations.
It started its rich local history being a remote drovers
inn where cattle were corralled overnight during their
long trek south from Scotland. Later it became a grouse
shooting
lodge as part of the Skipton Castle estate as well as being
a 250 acre Pennine hill farm. It’s now a base for
you to explore the hills and dales of Pennine Yorkshire. |
